About

Osaka

Osaka is a charming city known for its local cuisine, entertainment, and nightlife, as well as its rich history and vibrant culture. Located in the central part of Osaka Prefecture, it is the heart of the Osaka metropolitan area, the Keihanshin metropolitan area, and the Kansai region, making it Japan’s second most populous city.

Osaka

Unlike Tokyo’s refinement and Kyoto’s elegance, Osaka is a vibrant melting pot that embraces diverse cultures and lifestyles. Here, you can experience the most unique facets of Japan.

1. Weather

Osaka has a warm climate year-round with few rainy days. Summers are very hot with a significant heat island effect, making it one of Japan’s hottest regions. Winters are relatively mild with occasional temperatures below zero during cold fronts but rarely any snow accumulation due to the dry climate.

2. Popular Attractions

Donjon of Osaka

The Donjon of Osaka Castle was originally built in the 16th century by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. To construct the castle, he commanded feudal lords from across the nation to participate in the project. Many of the stones used for the moats and fortifications were donated by these lords. Over the course of three years, hundreds of thousands of laborers worked tirelessly to complete the castle, making it a monument to their hard work and dedication.

Osaka Castle, also known as Kinjo or Nishiki Castle, is a symbol of Osaka. Located in Osaka Castle Park in Chuo Ward, Osaka, it stands alongside Nagoya Castle and Kumamoto Castle as one of Japan’s three famous castles. Initially constructed in the Azuchi-Momoyama period in the Settsu Province’s Higashinari District, it was rebuilt during the Edo period. The castle features grand architecture, from its gates to the turrets along the moat. Visitors can learn about Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a prominent figure of the Sengoku period, within its historic walls.

Tsutenkaku Tower

Tsutenkaku Tower is an observation tower standing 103 meters tall, often referred to as the “Eiffel Tower of Naniwa” by locals. The tower features an observation deck at 92 meters above ground, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of Osaka through a transparent glass floor. It also boasts a long spiral slide that extends from the third floor to the basement, spanning 60 meters and taking about 10 seconds to slide down. The slide is enhanced with lighting effects, giving riders the sensation of traveling through a time tunnel.

Universal Studios Japan

Universal Studios Japan is one of Japan’s most popular theme parks and a landmark attraction in Osaka. It offers a variety of rides, shows, and dining options, immersing visitors in a world of movies. You can explore the magical world with Harry Potter, join the Minions for some fun, fight crime with Spider-Man, and embark on adventures with Nintendo characters. There’s even more excitement waiting to be discovered!

3. Food

Dotonbori

Dotonbori: A famous food street known for ramen, takoyaki, teppanyaki, grilled skewers, conveyor belt sushi, fugu dishes, and desserts. The quieter Hozenji Yokocho offers traditional Japanese dining, contrasting with the bustling Dotonbori.

Kuromon Market: Known as “Osaka’s Kitchen,” this 600-meter-long market has 170 shops selling meat, vegetables, seafood, and more. It’s a great place to sample various foods at reasonable prices.

4. Shopping

Shinsaibashi

Shinsaibashi: Located in the southern area of Osaka, it is the most famous shopping area in Osaka. The area is centered on Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street, extending to Nagabori Street in the north and Dotonbori in the south. Many boutiques, large department stores, century-old shops and well-known Japanese chain drugstores are gathered here. It can be said to be a shopping paradise, full of youthful vitality that shows off your personality.

5. Convenient transportation guide

This is the second time we plan a trip with Best Asia Tours and we love their service and attention to detail as well as their willingness to make your trip memorable and anything you want possible. Their planning is impecable and very efficient and if anything is not as you expected they will work to make sure it is. we did a 21 day itinerary for 7 including 2 grandmas back on 2018 and we just went back a couple of weeks ago with our daughter for 12 days and had an awesome time. We are already planning the next one. Zoe and Eric who had help us with the travel planning were both amazing their speed to comeback with the itineraries and changes is impressive and not matter how many times you ask them to look at changes or different hotels etc they are always willing to help with the most wonderful attitude . All the guides we had on the different cities and regions have be incredible . I can not recommend them enough. Best Asia Tours did a really good job planning our itinerary in Japan. Some times we had issues coming up I think mostly related to cultural differences, but our agent was amazing and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and the trip was perfect. The hotels are centrally located, very easy to access to the city center. The guide and driver are friendly and nice. We spend a pleasant and amazing journey there.

The trip was great and our agent performed great. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were and with the trip that they planned. Very professional. A previous agent told us we couldn’t pull off a trip with so many stops but it was not a problem and the pace of the trip was good for us. We don’t like sitting still in one spot for too long. The guides in each city did well and a couple were excellent.
