Redang Island

When visiting Malaysia, exploring its stunning islands is a must!

Whether you enjoy the lively atmosphere of bustling beaches or prefer a peaceful and relaxing sunbathing experience, Redang Island—one of Malaysia’s most beautiful islands—is a tropical paradise that caters to all your desires.

Redang Island is a famous tourist destination, known for its crystal-clear blue waters and pristine white sandy beaches. Beneath the sea, over 500 species of vibrant coral reefs, more than 1,000 species of bivalves, and 3,000 species of fish create a breathtaking underwater world, attracting countless visitors to this tropical paradise.

The waters surrounding Malaysia are home to a significant number of sea turtles of various species, making turtle watching a must-do activity when visiting Redang Island. You can take a boat ride across the island’s waters, where these adorable turtles often pop their heads above the surface to greet you. In certain areas, you can even go snorkeling and experience a magical underwater dance alongside them.

The locals are deeply committed to marine conservation, particularly in protecting sea turtles. They regularly organize turtle release programs to ensure these creatures can thrive in the waters of Redang Island.

From May to September each year, the sea turtles that inhabit Redang Island enter their nesting season. If you’re still awake at night, you might just spot them on the beach. Shh… if you do, be sure not to disturb them!

Redang Island offers well-developed tourism facilities, with nearly a dozen resorts available. Some of these resorts even have private beaches and dedicated dive centers, making it even easier to explore the stunning underwater world.

It’s important to note that Redang Island closes for nearly five months each year. Starting in November, the island is affected by the northeast monsoon, bringing heavy rains, reduced water clarity, and potential disruptions to sea transportation. Because of this, Redang Island is only open to visitors from around April to October. During this period, the waters are crystal clear, the sea remains calm, and the sun shines brightly—offering the perfect island getaway experience.

Nearby, two other well-known islands—Perhentian Island and Lang Tengah Island—are great destinations for island-hopping tours from Redang Island.

Perhentian Island is divided into two parts: Big Perhentian Island and Small Perhentian Island. The larger island offers better facilities and a more relaxing atmosphere, making it ideal for a vacation stay, while the smaller island has a livelier, more local vibe. Much of the island is covered in lush, untouched forest, and you can take a boat tour around the island to admire the stunning contrast of blue skies and dense greenery. Additionally, you can explore the island’s hidden bays and caves—venture out, and you might just discover something truly special.

Lang Tengah Island is smaller in size, but its surrounding waters are home to baby sharks, making it a unique attraction. Under the guidance of professional instructors, you can join a snorkeling tour and interact with these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat—an experience that is both thrilling and unforgettable.

This is the second time we plan a trip with Best Asia Tours and we love their service and attention to detail as well as their willingness to make your trip memorable and anything you want possible. Their planning is impecable and very efficient and if anything is not as you expected they will work to make sure it is. we did a 21 day itinerary for 7 including 2 grandmas back on 2018 and we just went back a couple of weeks ago with our daughter for 12 days and had an awesome time. We are already planning the next one. Zoe and Eric who had help us with the travel planning were both amazing their speed to comeback with the itineraries and changes is impressive and not matter how many times you ask them to look at changes or different hotels etc they are always willing to help with the most wonderful attitude . All the guides we had on the different cities and regions have be incredible . I can not recommend them enough. I have traveled al over the world and they are definitively on the top service of the agencies I had used.

Best Asia Tours did a really good job planning our itinerary in Japan. Some times we had issues coming up I think mostly related to cultural differences, but our agent was amazing and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and the trip was perfect. The hotels are centrally located, very easy to access to the city center. The guide and driver are friendly and nice. We spend a pleasant and amazing journey there.

The trip was great and our agent performed great. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were and with the trip that they planned. Very professional. A previous agent told us we couldn’t pull off a trip with so many stops but it was not a problem and the pace of the trip was good for us. We don’t like sitting still in one spot for too long. The guides in each city did well and a couple were excellent.
