Erdenet

Located in northern Mongolia, Erdenet developed around its rich copper-molybdenum deposits. Here, modern industrial power blends with ancient nomadic culture, offering travelers a truly unique experience.

1.Weather

Erdenet experiences harsh winters and short, mild summers.

Summer (June–August): This is the best time to visit Erdenet. Days are warm and comfortable, while nights are cool. The grasslands are lush, making it perfect for enjoying scenic views and outdoor activities. Despite the pleasant climate, it’s advisable to bring a jacket to handle the temperature difference between day and night.

Winter (October–April): Temperatures can drop extremely low, with nights reaching as cold as -35°C (-31°F). The grasslands are covered in heavy snow, so it’s recommended to bring professional cold-weather gear if traveling during this period.

Spring and Autumn: The weather is variable and unpredictable, with possibilities of snow, wind, or dust storms.

2.Popular Attractions

Erdenet Copper Mine: Known as the “heart of Erdenet”, the copper mine is an industrial marvel of Mongolia. Visitors can admire the massive mining site from the observation deck, experiencing the scale and significance of this industrial hub.

Mining Museum: The museum houses a rich collection of mining-related artifacts and exhibits, showcasing the development and achievements of Erdenet’s mining industry.

Shakyamuni Statue: Perched on a hillside in Erdenet, this enormous golden Buddha statue stands atop the mountain, overlooking the city and its surroundings.

3.Shopping

Erdenet Market: At the local market, you can find traditional Mongolian handicrafts such as felt wool products, leather goods, traditional clothing, and handmade silver jewelry.

Erdenet Carpet Factory: As a production site for Mongolian-brand carpets, the factory is open for visits and offers the opportunity to purchase high-quality carpets directly.

4.Convenient Transportation Guide

Taxis: Taxis are the main mode of transportation within the city. If you hail a taxi on the street, be sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.

Walking: Many of the main attractions in the city center are close to each other and can be easily explored on foot.

5.Accommodation Recommendations

City Center: The city center offers convenient transportation and is close to major attractions and commercial areas. There are many lodging options with good facilities and services, making it suitable for both business and leisure travelers. However, views are limited to the urban landscape, and the natural beauty of the grasslands cannot be fully experienced.

City Suburbs: The outskirts of the city feature options such as traditional Mongolian ger (yurt) camps, offering a quieter atmosphere and a closer connection to nature. However, accommodations are more limited and transportation may be less convenient.

This is the second time we plan a trip with Best Asia Tours and we love their service and attention to detail as well as their willingness to make your trip memorable and anything you want possible. Their planning is impecable and very efficient and if anything is not as you expected they will work to make sure it is. we did a 21 day itinerary for 7 including 2 grandmas back on 2018 and we just went back a couple of weeks ago with our daughter for 12 days and had an awesome time. We are already planning the next one. Zoe and Eric who had help us with the travel planning were both amazing their speed to comeback with the itineraries and changes is impressive and not matter how many times you ask them to look at changes or different hotels etc they are always willing to help with the most wonderful attitude . All the guides we had on the different cities and regions have be incredible . I can not recommend them enough. I have traveled al over the world and they are definitively on the top service of the agencies I had used.

Best Asia Tours did a really good job planning our itinerary in Japan. Some times we had issues coming up I think mostly related to cultural differences, but our agent was amazing and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and the trip was perfect. The hotels are centrally located, very easy to access to the city center. The guide and driver are friendly and nice. We spend a pleasant and amazing journey there.

The trip was great and our agent performed great. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were and with the trip that they planned. Very professional. A previous agent told us we couldn’t pull off a trip with so many stops but it was not a problem and the pace of the trip was good for us. We don’t like sitting still in one spot for too long. The guides in each city did well and a couple were excellent.
