1.Weather

Cebu has a maritime tropical climate—warm, humid, and moderated by sea breezes, making it feel relatively comfortable year-round. Temperatures typically stay between 24°C and 30°C, with two main seasons: dry and rainy.

The dry season runs from December to May, when rainfall is minimal, the air is drier, and the weather is mostly sunny. The sea is calm and crystal-clear during this period, making it the best time for beach vacations and water activities. Occasionally, temperatures can rise to around 37°C, so it’s important to stay updated on weather changes and take proper sun protection.

The rainy season lasts from June to November, bringing more frequent showers—usually brief and localized. However, occasional typhoons may affect the region, so it’s best to keep an eye on weather forecasts and carry rain gear while traveling.

2.Popular Attractions

Magellan’s Cross: In 1521, Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan unexpectedly came upon this small island. Here, he introduced Catholicism and erected a wooden cross to mark the arrival of Catholicism in the Philippines. Today, Magellan’s Cross is housed in a small chapel, its ceiling adorned with beautiful murals depicting the historical event. It has since become one of Cebu’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit for every traveler.

Basilica Minore del Santo Niño (Santo Niño Church): Located right next to Magellan’s Cross, this basilica enshrines the image of the Santo Niño— a gift from Magellan himself. This centuries-old statue has remained remarkably well preserved and is regarded as one of the country’s most sacred religious relics, drawing countless devotees and visitors each year.

Fort San Pedro: This historic military fort is the first stronghold established by the Spaniards upon their arrival in Cebu. With its distinctive architecture, the fort offers views overlooking Cebu City and the harbor. Inside, a small museum displays artifacts from the Spanish colonial period, including documents, paintings, and sculptures.

Taoist Temple (Dingguang Palace): Situated on a hillside in northern Cebu, this Taoist temple was built in 1948 with funding from the local Chinese community. Featuring classic Chinese architectural elements, the temple is dedicated to the ancient Chinese philosopher Laozi. From here, you can enjoy sweeping panoramic views of Cebu City.

Sirao Garden: It is a stunning, internet-famous flower garden filled with vibrant blooms spread across the hillsides. The garden also features popular photo spots such as giant Buddha hands, Bali-style bird nests, windmills, and large LOVE signs—perfect for capturing creative, eye-catching photos.

Mactan Island: It is the largest island near Cebu and home to the Mactan–Cebu International Airport. With its beautiful beaches and excellent diving spots, Mactan is a conveniently located island resort destination.

Oslob: A small town at the southern tip of Cebu, it is world-famous for its whale shark encounters. It is one of the few places on earth where visitors can observe these gentle giants up close almost year-round and with relative ease.

Moalboal: A coastal town on the southwestern shore of Cebu, it is best known for its spectacular jackfish tornado. This natural phenomenon has made Moalboal a paradise for divers and marine-life enthusiasts.

3.Local Food

SuTuKil Mactan: It is a popular seafood dining area where all the ingredients come fresh from the day’s catch. Simply choose the seafood you want and select a cooking method—grilled, made into soup, or served raw with dipping sauce—then sit back and wait for your feast to arrive.

Larsian sa Fuente: Cebu’s most beloved barbecue hub, it is famous for its wide variety of affordable and flavorful skewers.

4.Shopping

SM City Cebu: The largest comprehensive mall in Cebu, it offers a full range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

Ayala Center Cebu: A high-end shopping center located in the city center, it is home to numerous luxury brands and boutique stores.

Carbon Market: It is the oldest and largest traditional market in Cebu. Fruits, vegetables, and seafood are very affordable here, and you can also find handicrafts and traditional clothing—an excellent place to experience local life and culture.

SM Seaside City Cebu: It is a large seaside mall known for its distinctive circular architectural design and coastal views. It offers a wide variety of shopping options and features a cinema, bowling alley, ice skating rink, rooftop garden, and viewing tower—ideal for families and travelers who enjoy leisure and entertainment.

5.Transportation Guide

Jeepneys: They are an iconic way to experience local Filipino culture. Routes are usually displayed on the vehicle, so if you’re unfamiliar with the area, pay close attention to ensure you’re on the right path.

Taxis: They are the most common mode of transportation in Cebu. Flexible and convenient, taxis can also be booked via ride-hailing apps.

Private Vans/Car Rentals: They are the best choice for traveling to more distant destinations. Routes and fares can be agreed upon in advance, offering convenience and flexibility.

Boat Transfers: They are the primary means of transport for visiting nearby islands.

6.Recommended Accommodation Areas

Downtown Area: With attractions concentrated in the area, staying here offers easy access for sightseeing. It is ideal for travelers who enjoy urban life, shopping, and exploring history and culture.

Mactan Island: Home to numerous upscale resorts, this is the perfect choice for visitors seeking a luxurious beach vacation experience.

This is the second time we plan a trip with Best Asia Tours and we love their service and attention to detail as well as their willingness to make your trip memorable and anything you want possible. Their planning is impecable and very efficient and if anything is not as you expected they will work to make sure it is. we did a 21 day itinerary for 7 including 2 grandmas back on 2018 and we just went back a couple of weeks ago with our daughter for 12 days and had an awesome time. Best Asia Tours did a really good job planning our itinerary in Japan. Some times we had issues coming up I think mostly related to cultural differences, but our agent was amazing and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and the trip was perfect. The hotels are centrally located, very easy to access to the city center. The guide and driver are friendly and nice. We spend a pleasant and amazing journey there.

The trip was great and our agent performed great. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were and with the trip that they planned. Very professional. A previous agent told us we couldn’t pull off a trip with so many stops but it was not a problem and the pace of the trip was good for us. We don’t like sitting still in one spot for too long. The guides in each city did well and a couple were excellent.
