The Chiang Mai Flower Festival, held every year in February, is a large-scale floral carnival that involves the entire Chiang Mai province. By 2024, the event has been held for the 47th time.
February is the peak season for flowers in Northern Thailand, particularly in the Chiang Mai area. In addition to showcasing a wide variety of flowers, the festival features many exciting events, such as flower parades, floral boat displays, flower competitions, horticultural exhibitions, and a “Flower Queen” beauty contest. These activities attract numerous visitors from near and far.
- Flower Parade
The flower parade is the highlight of the Chiang Mai Flower Festival. On parade day, dozens of flower-covered floats take part in the procession.
Each float is decorated with vibrant, colorful flowers, creating a fairy-tale-like, enchanting scene.
Young women from Northern Thailand, dressed in traditional Lanna costumes, sit gracefully on the floats, offering visitors their most beautiful smiles.
- Horticultural and Floral Exhibitions
Nong Buak Hat Park is the main venue for the flower festival each year. During the event, the park will be filled with blooming flowers, creating a fragrant and colorful landscape.
Throughout the festival, the park hosts horticultural exhibitions and flower competitions, where visitors can immerse themselves in the sea of flowers and engage with locals to learn about gardening techniques.
In addition to the floral displays, the park will also feature food stalls and local product vendors. Visitors can sample Chiang Mai’s specialty foods and purchase unique souvenirs to take home for friends and family.
On the park’s main stage, traditional music and dance from Northern Thailand will be performed, ensuring a lively and unforgettable experience for all.
