The Crazy House, located in Da Lat, Vietnam, covers nearly 2,000 square meters and is a unique architectural creation designed by Vietnamese architect Đặng Việt Nga. With its clever combination of “natural elements + fairy tale style”, and its colorful, whimsical shapes, the Crazy House has quickly become one of the most stunning attractions in Da Lat.
This is a magical and wonderfully chaotic dreamscape that breaks traditional concepts of house design. With twisting trees, various animal sculptures, and exaggerated roof shapes and staircases, everything feels strange yet harmonious.
Step into the Crazy House and embark on an adventure!
There’s no specific tour route; follow the winding, intertwining narrow staircases to delve deeper into this maze-like wonderland.
At times, you walk among the gnarled “dead trees”, and at others, you rest in the belly of a “giraffe”, or get lost in a giant “spider web” — it feels as wondrous as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Every corner reveals a new world, and you never know what sights await you next. This sense of mystery and the unknown captivates and continually brings delightful surprises.
Inside the Crazy House, there’s also an “Underwater World”. In this blue-themed space, models of marine life, combined with 3D illustrations and lighting effects, immerse you in the ocean, making you forget everything and feel as if you’ve slipped from the forest into the depths of the sea.
You can then ascend a snake-shaped staircase to the highest point, where you can overlook the entire town from a castle reminiscent of a fairy tale, taking in the vibrant, colorful streets of Da Lat.
The Crazy House is not just an attraction; it’s also a hotel. If a visit isn’t enough, why not stay overnight?
The Crazy House features a total of 10 uniquely themed rooms, each inspired by different animals. There’s the “Eagle Room”, symbolizing strength and courage, the “Ant Room”, representing hard work, the adorable “Brown Bear Room”, and the fierce “Tiger Den”, among others. The rooms on the top floor even have glass skylights for stargazing. If a room is unoccupied for the day, the door will be opened, allowing visitors to admire the interior design and decor from outside.
Each room in the Crazy House has a unique design based on its theme. From location, orientation, height, and shape to the decor, furnishings, and accessories, every detail is one of a kind. The common thread is that each room strives to create a treehouse feel, with no sharp angles or straight lines. The interiors evoke a natural atmosphere, featuring wardrobes made from tree bark, handcrafted furniture, beds carved naturally from tree hollows, and sculptures of animals and plants. The corridors and staircases are specially designed to resemble caves, adding to the immersive experience.
The Crazy House is also expanding, resembling a magical castle that continuously grows, or a series of fairy tales where each chapter leads into the next. This ongoing development adds to its unique charm, drawing visitors back repeatedly, as there are always new surprises to discover with each visit.
