Mui Ne

Mui Ne is a small fishing village located on the Mui Ne Peninsula in southeastern Vietnam. It boasts dazzling sunshine, long beaches, refreshing coconut breezes, delicious seafood, vibrant local life, and the ultimate romance of the sea meeting the desert.

1. Weather
Mui Ne enjoys clear skies and plenty of wind, with the lowest rainfall in all of Vietnam. The best time to visit is from December to May, when temperatures are relatively cool and not overly hot.

2. Popular Attractions
In Mui Ne, you can experience both desert and ocean scenery simultaneously. Known for its unique desert landscapes, Mui Ne features the famous red and white sand dunes. These coastal dunes are formed from beach ridges that emerge above the water, shaped by hydraulic forces as they settle onshore.

White Sand Dunes: Also known as the “Flying Dunes” due to their ever-changing shapes with the wind, the White Sand Dunes are the ideal spot for watching the sunrise. Here, you can gaze at the distant horizon as the sea breeze flows, and witness the sky gradually transforming into soft shades of pink and purple as the sun rises, illuminating the ocean, dunes, and nearby villages.

Red Sand Dunes: Located just outside the northern part of Mui Ne, the Red Sand Dunes create a striking contrast with the White Sand Dunes. They are the perfect spot for watching the sunset, as the red sands are bathed in the warm glow of the evening sky, creating an incredibly romantic atmosphere.

Fairy Stream: This enchanting stream, which is only ankle-deep, flows through stunning hills of white and ochre sandstone. On one side, you’ll find striking red clay and limestone layers, while the other features lush green forests, creating a uniquely picturesque landscape. You can stroll leisurely through the cool waters, feeling the soft sand beneath your feet, and watch as the streamside ever-changing formations glisten in the sunlight.

3. Experience Activities
Kite Surfing: Are you looking for an adrenaline rush by the beach? Try kite surfing! Mui Ne is the birthplace of this sport and a global center for kite surfing, offering fantastic experiences for both beginners and seasoned enthusiasts.

Desert Jeep Tours: You can explore the red and white sand dunes in colorful, charming jeeps. Riding through the undulating dunes promises an unforgettable and thrilling adventure.

4. Shopping
At dawn, colorful fishing boats return from the vast sea, laden with their heavy catches. These boats gather to form a bustling fish market where fishermen quickly unload their haul, and women in conical hats busily sort and weigh the fish. You can stroll through this lively market, purchase freshly caught seafood, and have it prepared on-site, creating a direct connection between the ocean and your dining table.

5. Food
As a fishing village, Mui Ne offers an abundance of fresh seafood. Whether prepared as refreshing salads, wrapped in spring rolls with fresh vegetables, stir-fried, grilled, or made into savory soups, each dish showcases the unique flavors of the ocean’s bounty. Enjoying these dishes allows you to experience the true essence of coastal cuisine.

Fish Salad: Fresh fish is marinated in lime juice and wrapped in delicate rice paper, then combined with ingredients like basil, green bananas, starfruit, chili, garlic, and roasted peanuts. A quick dip in fish sauce enhances the flavors, creating a delightful explosion of tastes that lingers on the palate.

Fish Sauce: An essential component of Vietnamese cuisine, this soul sauce is of particularly high quality in Mui Ne compared to other regions.

Shrimp and Pork Pancakes: A popular street food in Mui Ne, these translucent pancakes are filled with bite-sized shrimp and pork, then topped with chopped scallions and chili for an irresistible treat.

This is the second time we plan a trip with Best Asia Tours and we love their service and attention to detail as well as their willingness to make your trip memorable and anything you want possible. Their planning is impecable and very efficient and if anything is not as you expected they will work to make sure it is. we did a 21 day itinerary for 7 including 2 grandmas back on 2018 and we just went back a couple of weeks ago with our daughter for 12 days and had an awesome time. We are already planning the next one. Zoe and Eric who had help us with the travel planning were both amazing their speed to comeback with the itineraries and changes is impressive and not matter how many times you ask them to look at changes or different hotels etc they are always willing to help with the most wonderful attitude . All the guides we had on the different cities and regions have be incredible . I can not recommend them enough. I have traveled al over the world and they are definitively on the top service of the agencies I had used.

Best Asia Tours did a really good job planning our itinerary in Japan. Some times we had issues coming up I think mostly related to cultural differences, but our agent was amazing and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and the trip was perfect. The hotels are centrally located, very easy to access to the city center. The guide and driver are friendly and nice. We spend a pleasant and amazing journey there.

The trip was great and our agent performed great. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were and with the trip that they planned. Very professional. A previous agent told us we couldn’t pull off a trip with so many stops but it was not a problem and the pace of the trip was good for us. We don’t like sitting still in one spot for too long. The guides in each city did well and a couple were excellent.
