Shopping in Cambodia

1.Krama

In Cambodia, you’ll often see people wearing a checkered cloth called a krama. It may be worn around the neck, tied at the waist, or used to wrap the head and face.

The krama is an indispensable traditional fabric in Cambodia. It comes in cotton, linen, and silk varieties. Thanks to its wide range of uses—such as providing shade from the sun, protection from wind and cold, shielding against dust (especially useful when riding a tuk-tuk), serving as a bundle cloth, head cushion, or even a decorative item—it’s often called the “all-purpose cloth”.

In markets across Cambodia, the krama can be seen everywhere. Each colorful and finely crafted krama is handmade by artisans using traditional weaving techniques and ancient looms that have been passed down through generations.

Drape a krama over your shoulders, and you’ll discover that the thousand-year-old culture and history of Cambodia are hidden in every thread that makes up the krama.

2.Rubies

Cambodia is known for producing high-quality rubies, with rich color and excellent texture, making them a top choice for many tourists when buying souvenirs.

However, the Cambodian market is flooded with a wide variety of rubies, each with different qualities, and the prices can vary greatly. If you’re looking to purchase a good-quality ruby, it’s best to seek help from a professional for proper evaluation.

3.Wood Carving

Wood carving is a traditional Cambodian handicraft, typically made from dense, finely grained hardwoods such as ebony and teak. With a long history, the earliest carvings were primarily Buddha statues, traditionally placed in temples and ancestral halls as offerings to express deep reverence and spiritual devotion.

Today, Cambodian wood carvings have become increasingly diverse in both theme and form. With their varied shapes, vivid expressions, and intricate patterns, these carvings are now highly valued as decorative and collectible art pieces—and are among the most popular souvenirs for tourists visiting Cambodia.

4.Silverware

Cambodian silverware is exquisitely crafted, featuring intricate patterns with distinct local characteristics. Common items include various types of tableware, wine pots, vases, jewelry, and more. Among the most popular are traditional Khmer-style chopsticks and silver-plated coffee spoons. It’s important to note that most Cambodian silverware is silver-plated, so when purchasing, be sure to check that the quality meets your needs and the price is reasonable.

5.Replica Angkor Products

Angkor Wat is Cambodia’s most iconic attraction, so there are many artworks and souvenirs inspired by its architecture and symbolism. These replica Angkor items are available in a variety of materials, offering plenty of options for visitors to choose from.

This is the second time we plan a trip with Best Asia Tours and we love their service and attention to detail as well as their willingness to make your trip memorable and anything you want possible. Their planning is impecable and very efficient and if anything is not as you expected they will work to make sure it is. we did a 21 day itinerary for 7 including 2 grandmas back on 2018 and we just went back a couple of weeks ago with our daughter for 12 days and had an awesome time. We are already planning the next one. Zoe and Eric who had help us with the travel planning were both amazing their speed to comeback with the itineraries and changes is impressive and not matter how many times you ask them to look at changes or different hotels etc they are always willing to help with the most wonderful attitude . All the guides we had on the different cities and regions have be incredible . I can not recommend them enough. I have traveled al over the world and they are definitively on the top service of the agencies I had used.

Best Asia Tours did a really good job planning our itinerary in Japan. Some times we had issues coming up I think mostly related to cultural differences, but our agent was amazing and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and the trip was perfect. The hotels are centrally located, very easy to access to the city center. The guide and driver are friendly and nice. We spend a pleasant and amazing journey there.

The trip was great and our agent performed great. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were and with the trip that they planned. Very professional. A previous agent told us we couldn’t pull off a trip with so many stops but it was not a problem and the pace of the trip was good for us. We don’t like sitting still in one spot for too long. The guides in each city did well and a couple were excellent.
