Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville1

Sihanoukville, Cambodia’s largest seaport and the third-largest tourist city, is named after Prince Sihanouk. It is now Cambodia’s premier seaside resort destination.

Here you will find palm-fringed white sandy beaches, emerald-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs, and island paradises full of a free-spirited vibe. Set sail by boat and begin your coastal adventure in Cambodia.

1.Weather

Due to its coastal location, Sihanoukville tends to be cooler and milder compared to other regions of Cambodia.

The dry season in Sihanoukville runs from November to April and is the perfect time for swimming, diving, sunbathing, and island exploration. Among these months, December to February is especially ideal because daytime temperatures are more comfortable. By March and April, temperatures reach their annual peak with strong sunlight, so it’s important to take precautions such as sun protection and staying hydrated.

From May to October is the rainy season in Sihanoukville, with increased rainfall in the afternoons and evenings, along with high humidity. Sea activities may be limited during this period. However, there are fewer tourists, prices are lower, and it’s also a good time to witness beautiful sunsets after the rain.

2.Popular Attractions

Koh Sihanouk (Sihanouk Hill): Located north of Sihanoukville city, it is the highest point in the area and a treasure spot for short city adventures. From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire harbor and some of the best sunset scenery.

Ream National Park: It is an ideal destination for hiking enthusiasts. You can take a boat tour through the mangrove wetlands, trek through tropical jungles, stroll along white sandy beaches, and gaze at distant lighthouses beneath ancient trees. You can also walk along the wooden boardwalk on Koh Prins (Prince Island) and admire extensive coral reefs in the crystal-clear waters.

Koh Rong Island: One of the popular island-hopping destinations around Sihanoukville. It boasts abundant natural attractions, including coral reefs, tropical palm forests, rainforests, waterfalls, sparkling blue waters, and several pristine white sandy beaches. The most spectacular is a 6-kilometer-long beach. The island offers unique treehouse accommodations for an immersive island living experience. Visitors can also go fishing, and snorkeling, watch sunsets, and enjoy BBQs.

Koh Rong Sanloem: It is one of the island-hopping destinations around Sihanoukville. This dumbbell-shaped island features two long sandy beaches on its east and west sides for relaxation and sightseeing. On the eastern side, there is a naturally formed heart-shaped bay used for shellfish farming. The coastline facing Koh Rong Island is considered the prime snorkeling area on Koh Rong Sanloem.

Bamboo Island: It is another popular island-hopping spot near Sihanoukville. It’s the best choice for sea fishing, and it’s ideal for groups renting a boat. Fishing gear, grills, and charcoal are provided on board, allowing you to fish in the natural surroundings and then enjoy a self-cooked barbecue with your catch.

Ochheuteal Beach: It is the most popular beach and the core area for nightlife, very lively and bustling. Nearby are various bars and barbecue stalls where you can enjoy grilled food and beer in the sea breeze — an incredibly comfortable experience.

Otres Beach: It’s a beach located away from the city center, with few people and very peaceful. The long sandy shore is shaded by palm trees, creating a relaxed and leisurely atmosphere—perfect for watching sunsets and enjoying lazy moments.

Victory Beach: It’s the best spot for sunset viewing, with clear waters that allow you to better experience the local vibe.

This is the second time we plan a trip with Best Asia Tours and we love their service and attention to detail as well as their willingness to make your trip memorable and anything you want possible. Their planning is impecable and very efficient and if anything is not as you expected they will work to make sure it is. we did a 21 day itinerary for 7 including 2 grandmas back on 2018 and we just went back a couple of weeks ago with our daughter for 12 days and had an awesome time. We are already planning the next one. Zoe and Eric who had help us with the travel planning were both amazing their speed to comeback with the itineraries and changes is impressive and not matter how many times you ask them to look at changes or different hotels etc they are always willing to help with the most wonderful attitude . All the guides we had on the different cities and regions have be incredible . I can not recommend them enough. I have traveled al over the world and they are definitively on the top service of the agencies I had used.

Best Asia Tours did a really good job planning our itinerary in Japan. Some times we had issues coming up I think mostly related to cultural differences, but our agent was amazing and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and the trip was perfect. The hotels are centrally located, very easy to access to the city center. The guide and driver are friendly and nice. We spend a pleasant and amazing journey there.

The trip was great and our agent performed great. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were and with the trip that they planned. Very professional. A previous agent told us we couldn’t pull off a trip with so many stops but it was not a problem and the pace of the trip was good for us. We don’t like sitting still in one spot for too long. The guides in each city did well and a couple were excellent.
