Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Lhasa
Meals included: None
Hotel: Decent 4 or 5 stars hotel in Lhasa (downtown)
Zhaxidele! Your tour of Tibet starts upon arrival, one of our English speaking tour guides will pick you up in the Lhasa Airport and take you to your hotel in the downtown core. Free and easy for the rest of the day. Have a good rest and get used to the high altitude.
Day 2 Lhasa
Meals included: Buffet breakfast, Chinese Lunch

After breakfast, start your full day tour and visit Lhasa’s cardinal landmark- Potala Palace which was designated as the World Cultural Heritage in 1994 by UNESCO for its well-preserved palace style architecture group. It is a palace complex that combines palace, fortress, and monastery, reflecting the unique culture and history of Tibet. Its intricate architecture and rich religious significance attract millions of visitors every year.
This afternoon, continue to visit the most revered religious structure in Tibet – Jokhang Temple. The quadrangle of streets surrounding the Jokhang Temple is the Barkhor, Lhasa’s most interesting pilgrimage circuit. From here we’ll enjoy a leisurely walk on Barkhor Street which is the famous commercial center. The walk is about one kilometer long and circles Jokhang. We’ll get to see the former seat of the State Oracle in Lhasa called the Muru Nyingba Monastery, and a number of nobles’ houses along the way.
Day 3 Lhasa

Today, we will drive to visit two important monasteries in Lhasa. We tackle the Drepung Monastery first, which is situated at the foothill of a mountain and was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It was once home to 10,000 monks. With around 141 manors and 540 pastures, it is considered to be the largest Buddhist temple in Tibet. It is ranked No.1 among the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
In the afternoon, we will explore the Sera monastery which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa disciple Jamchen Choeje. From here we will also get to see the sutra debating among the lamas held in the courtyard.
Day 4 Lhasa – Gyantse – Shigatse

After breakfast, drive from Lhasa to Gyantse and pass through Kampala pass (4,794m), and get a bird’s eye view of the Lake Yamdrok (Yamtso), the world highest freshwater lake, considered as one of the three main holy lakes of Tibet.
Thereafter we will drive toward Gyantse and visit the Karola Glacier on the way which is one of the three main continental glaciers in Tibet — words cannot describe its phenomenal presence.
Your tour of Tibet then drives up to visit the famous Palkor Chedo. This monastery a model of typical Tibetan Buddhism architecture built in 1427 A.D. during the Ming Dynasty. It features well-preserved Buddhist architectures and the numerous exquisite fresco and statues. We will reach Shigatse in the evening.
Day 5 Shigatse-Rongbuk Monastery
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch
Hotel: Hostel in Rongbuk Monastery
This morning, we will visit Tashilunpo Monastery, the largest monastery in Shigatse, which has the same reputation as the Potala Palace in Tibet. The whole monastery covers an area of 150,000 sq.m. with 57 sutra halls and 3600 rooms. Then drive to visit the famous Rongbuk Monastery which is the highest altitude monastery on the planet and has a beautiful vantage point to see Mt. Everest. Tonight, we stay at a hostel in Rongbuk Monastery.
Day 6 Rongbu Monastery-Mt. Everest-Shigatse

Early the morning, we are supposed to catch the sunrise of the Everest Mountain(depending on the weather), it’s a great time to take the perfect photo of Mount Everest, an unforgettable experience. From there we drive to the famous Mount Everest Base where you can get a close view of the holy mountain. With a height of 8,844.43 meters, it is considered to be the highest peak in the world. This afternoon, you will go down from the base and be transferred back to Shigatse.
Day 7 Shigatse-Lhasa
Meals: Buffet breakfast, Hotpot Dinner
Hotel: Decent 4 or 5 stars hotel in Lhasa (downtown)
After breakfast, we drive back to Lhasa and enjoy the landscapes on the way. We are expecting to arrive at Lhasa later this afternoon. The rest of the day will be yours to explore by your own, stroll around in the downtown.
Day 8 Departure from Lhasa
Meals included: Buffet breakfast
Today you are free until being transferred to the airport for the departure flight. End your unforgettable tour in Tibet.
