Baguio

Baguio City, located in the northern part of Luzon in the Philippines, is a mountain city that was originally home to indigenous highland groups such as the Igorot people. Thanks to its cool climate, it is often referred to as the “Summer Capital of the Philippines.” Today, it remains a favorite getaway for both locals and travelers seeking a refreshing escape, a relaxing holiday, or a peaceful retreat.

1.Weather

Baguio sits at an elevation of 1,000 to 2,000 meters above sea level, and this high-altitude setting keeps the city pleasantly cool throughout the year. Average temperatures range from 18°C to 25°C, with two distinct seasons: the dry season and the rainy season.

From November to May, the dry season brings clear skies and abundant sunshine, making it the best time to visit Baguio.

From June to October, the rainy season brings frequent short showers. Temperatures are slightly cooler than in the dry season, and the mist that settles over the mountains adds an air of tranquility and mystery. Visitors are advised to bring rain gear during this period.

2.TopAttractions

Lion’s Head Sculpture: Located at the entrance to Baguio, this iconic landmark is a massive lion’s head carved out of natural rock. It is one of the city’s most recognizable symbols and a must-visit photo spot.

Baguio Cathedral: It is a Roman Catholic church that serves as the seat of the Bishop of Baguio. Known for its distinct Gothic-inspired architecture, twin spires, and beautiful stained-glass windows, the cathedral stands as an important symbol of the city’s religious and cultural heritage.

Burnham Park: It is a large recreational park situated in the heart of Baguio. Highlights include Burnham Lake, the Rose Garden, and the Orchidarium. Visitors can enjoy boating, biking, jogging, or simply relaxing in the greenery.

Mines View Park: One of Baguio’s most famous viewpoints, it offers sweeping panoramas of the surrounding mountain ranges and the city below. On clear days, the scenery is especially breathtaking.

Igorot Stone Kingdom: A cultural theme park built entirely out of stone, it is inspired by a local legend about a long-lost Igorot stone kingdom. The site showcases terraces, stone structures, and design elements reflecting the traditions and heritage of the Igorot people.

Tam-Awan Village: It is a traditional hut community preserved and maintained by Cordillera artists, showcasing the authentic architectural and cultural heritage of the Cordillera region. Through its reconstructed village setting and artistic displays, visitors can gain insight into the way of life and cultural traditions of the Indigenous peoples who inhabit the Cordillera mountains.

Baguio Botanical Garden: Home to a wide array of plants, an art gallery, and a “friendship garden”, the botanical garden offers a unique atmosphere where nature and culture harmoniously blend, making it a peaceful place for leisurely walks and quiet appreciation.

3.Food

5.Transportation Guide

Due to Baguio’s geographical location, transportation to the city can be somewhat inconvenient. The most common way to reach Baguio is by taking a long-distance bus. Although the journey is lengthy, travelers can enjoy the scenic rural landscapes of northern Luzon along the way.

Walking: Many attractions in Baguio’s city center are within close proximity, making it easy to explore on foot.

Taxi: It is the most comfortable option for traveling to more distant attractions. Using online ride-hailing apps is recommended for added convenience.

Jeepney: It is a quintessential local mode of transportation—affordable and allowing passengers to hop on and off freely. However, visitors unfamiliar with the routes may find it challenging to navigate.

6.Recommended Accommodation Areas

City Center Area: Conveniently located with easy access to major attractions, this area offers a full range of dining and shopping options, as well as various types of accommodations to suit different needs.

This is the second time we plan a trip with Best Asia Tours and we love their service and attention to detail as well as their willingness to make your trip memorable and anything you want possible. Their planning is impecable and very efficient and if anything is not as you expected they will work to make sure it is. we did a 21 day itinerary for 7 including 2 grandmas back on 2018 and we just went back a couple of weeks ago with our daughter for 12 days and had an awesome time. We are already planning the next one. Zoe and Eric who had help us with the travel planning were both amazing their speed to comeback with the itineraries and changes is impressive and not matter how many times you ask them to look at changes or different hotels etc they are always willing to help with the most wonderful attitude . All the guides we had on the different cities and regions have be incredible . I can not recommend them enough. Best Asia Tours did a really good job planning our itinerary in Japan. Some times we had issues coming up I think mostly related to cultural differences, but our agent was amazing and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and the trip was perfect. The hotels are centrally located, very easy to access to the city center. The guide and driver are friendly and nice. We spend a pleasant and amazing journey there.

The trip was great and our agent performed great. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were and with the trip that they planned. Very professional. A previous agent told us we couldn’t pull off a trip with so many stops but it was not a problem and the pace of the trip was good for us. We don’t like sitting still in one spot for too long. The guides in each city did well and a couple were excellent.
