1. MRT (Mass Rapid Transit)
In Singapore, the MRT is the most convenient and speedy mode of transportation. It is particularly useful for exploring the city, as many of Singapore’s famous attractions are just a short walk from MRT stations. Using the MRT makes it easy to navigate and enjoy Singapore.
Singapore’s MRT system is categorized into six lines of different colors: green, red, yellow, purple, blue, and brown.
East-West Line (Green Line): The longest and most extensive MRT line, it connects key locations including Changi Airport, Bugis, Raffles Place, Singapore General Hospital, and Jurong East.
North-South Line (Red Line): The first and busiest MRT line, it passes through several major residential areas and connects important commercial districts such as Orchard Road, Raffles Place, and Marina Bay.
Circle Line (Yellow Line): It is not yet fully looped, with complete closure expected by 2025. It passes various tourist attractions, including Haw Par Villa, Holland Village, Singapore Botanic Gardens, and the National Stadium.
North-East Line (Purple Line): It connects the northeastern residential areas with key city center districts such as Little India, Clarke Quay, and Chinatown.
Downtown Line (Blue Line): It links the central-western areas of Bukit Panjang, Bukit Batok, and Bukit Timah with the downtown area, as well as southeastern regions including Geylang, Bedok, Tampines, and Changi.
Thomson-East Coast Line (Brown Line): It is the newest MRT line, which is not yet fully operational. Once completed, it will connect to destinations like Gardens by the Bay.

2. LRT (Light Rail Transit)
The LRT is a branch of the MRT system and currently consists of three lines: Bukit Panjang LRT, Sengkang LRT, and Punggol LRT.
3. Buses
In Singapore, buses are a vital mode of transportation with extensive coverage across almost all areas of the city, making them a popular choice for many residents and visitors.
Additionally, there are various sightseeing buses available for exploring the city’s attractions.
4. Trishaws
In the Chinatown and Arab Street areas, you can experience traditional trishaw rides, offering a nostalgic way to tour the city’s attractions in vintage style.
5. Transportation Cards
EZ-Link Card: It is usable on MRT trains and buses. You can purchase it at the airport upon arrival, at any MRT station’s Ticket Office, or at Seven-Eleven stores.
Singapore Tourist Pass: Designed specifically for tourists, it comes in 1-day, 2-day, and 3-day options. With this pass, you can enjoy unlimited rides on Singapore’s MRT, LRT, and buses within the validity period.
