Step into one of the world’s best rainforest zoos, Singapore Zoo, and embark on a wildlife exploration journey.
Renowned for its “open concept”, Singapore Zoo features over 300 species and more than 2,800 animals, including crocodiles, Malayan tapirs, and white tigers. Here, you can encounter animals up close and enjoy the sight of them playing freely in their naturalistic habitats.

1. Animals and Zones
Orangutan Island & Boardwalk: This is the largest and most unique exhibition zone in the zoo, where you can observe fascinating orangutans amidst towering trees and lush greenery.
Elephants of Asia: You can stroll along rustic pathways while watching the elephants and their activities, all while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Reptile Kingdom: This area showcases over 60 species of reptiles and amphibians, including snakes, lizards, and various endangered frogs. Here, you can get up close with Aldabra giant tortoises and Komodo dragons, or admire the star of the exhibition zone, the vibrant panther chameleon, which is known for its ability to change color based on light, temperature, and mood.
Fragile Forest: This biotope mimics a tropical rainforest habitat with unique vegetation and humidity compared to other areas. It features a variety of Southeast Asian rainforest birds and mammals, along with some tropical species from Africa and South America. The leaf litter is home to intentionally introduced vocal cockroaches, rhinoceros beetles, and a colorful array of frogs and toads. Step into the Fragile Forest and embark on an adventure to spot camouflaged amphibians and invertebrates.
Australasia: Here, you can find kangaroos from Australia, New Guinea, Indonesia, and nearby islands. You will encounter familiar gray kangaroos and also discover tree kangaroos from Papua New Guinea.
Great Rift Valley of Ethiopia: You can experience the stunning natural beauty of Ethiopia, observe agile Nubian ibexes and Hamadryas baboons skillfully navigating steep rocks, and keep an eye out for more animals hiding in the rock crevices!
Primate Kingdom: It allows you to explore the realm of primates, where monkeys, lemurs, and tamarins live freely. You can also watch the white-faced capuchin monkeys leap between trees, listen to the unique calls of the black howler monkeys, and experience the lively charm of these fascinating animals.

2. Activities
One of the most interesting experiences at Singapore Zoo is the “Breakfast in the Wild”. The restaurant is connected to the orangutan enclosure, so while you enjoy your breakfast, a family of orangutans may come over from the distant jungle and sit on nearby tree stumps. These orangutans are gentle and accustomed to human presence, so there is no need to worry or be afraid. You can confidently approach and take photos with these furry creatures.
If you are interested in Asian elephants, don’t miss the behind-the-scenes tour called “Asian Elephant Encounters”, where you will discover the unique features of Asian elephants, learn how their habitat is designed, and see how they are cared for daily. You’ll also have the chance to get up close with the herd, feed them by hand, and interact with these gentle giants!
3. Presentations
Into the Wild: This captivating presentation features a variety of rainforest animals showcasing their agility with spins and jumps, ensuring you’ll be mesmerized.
Splash Safari: This joyous, lively, splash-filled performance features playful sea lions performing humorous antics and showcasing their charming personalities. For an even wilder experience, sit in the splash zone for unexpected surprises!
