Busan

Busan, with its expansive coastline, picturesque mountains, and rich history and culture, has become the top choice for many travelers visiting South Korea.

  1. Weather
Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Busan enjoys a mild and humid climate with distinct seasons. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom; in summer, the seawater is crystal clear; in autumn, the vibrant red foliage captivates; and in winter, the city is blanketed by snow.

  2. Popular Attractions
Haeundae: With Busan’s superior coastal natural scenery, Haeundae has become Korea’s premier beach and one of the Eight Scenic Spots of South Korea. Its fine, soft white sand stretches uninterrupted for 2,000 meters, bustling in the summer with vibrant, colorful umbrellas. Traditional folk experience areas, offering activities like diving boards, wrestling, pitch-pot, tug-of-war, and board flipping, are abundant, and there’s even a seaside library. Various festivals, exhibitions, and film festivals held here each year imbue this beach with a strong cultural and artistic atmosphere.

Busan Blue Line Park: The 5-kilometer linear urban park is transformed from an abandoned railway that once connected Haeundae and the Songjeong Beach resort. It features both coastal trains and Sky Capsule rides, making it a key attraction in Busan’s Haeundae tourism district.

Gamcheon Culture Village: One of Busan’s most iconic landmarks, this picturesque village features densely packed, candy-colored houses perched on the hillside, resembling a fairy-tale setting. The village is adorned with art installations, murals, and offers a variety of workshops and shops. Visitors can soak up Busan’s vibrant culture and even sit side-by-side with “The Little Prince” and the desert fox while taking in the panoramic view of the colorful village.

Songdo Yonggung Skywalk: This wooden bridge with a sleek, flowing design extends over the ocean, giving the impression of reaching out into the sea. The skywalk is particularly enchanting at night when illuminated, creating a dreamy mirage-like effect as if it’s floating above the water.

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple: Located on Busan’s eastern coast, this is Korea’s only seaside temple. It is surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery. Built in 1376 during the Goryeo Dynasty by Master Naong, the temple’s unique location between mountains and water offers a serene yet distinctive charm. Key features include the Sea Water Goddess of Mercy statue, the Great Buddha’s Hall, the Dragon King Hall, the Cave Shrine, and the Four Lion Three-Story Pagoda.

  1. Cuisine
Jagalchi Fish Market: If you’re craving a seafood feast, Jagalchi Fish Market is a must-visit! Located between Nampo-dong and Chungmu-dong in Jung-gu, Busan, this market serves as the city’s central hub for fisheries and seafood trade. Alongside the nearby Singdonga Fish Market and Dried Fish Market, it is one of the largest markets in the Busan region. The Singdonga Fish Market is particularly popular among tourists. The first floor is lined with vendors selling live fish and offering freshly prepared, delicious sashimi on the spot. The second and third floors house shops for dried fish, various seafood products, and sashimi restaurants.

  2. Shopping
Gwangbok-ro Fashion Street: The pedestrian street is a paradise for sportswear brands. It also features accessory shops and budget-friendly stores.

Lotte Premium Outlet East Busan: It is a comprehensive shopping center inspired by the romantic aesthetics of Santorini. In addition to the shopping mall, it offers attractions such as a fountain plaza, a lighthouse observatory, and a rose garden, all adorned with Greek-inspired decorations, creating a romantic atmosphere.

Nampo-dong: It is one of Busan’s prime shopping districts, home to numerous large shopping centers and commercial streets.

  1. Transportation
Transportation in Busan is similar to that in Seoul. You can reach all of Busan’s attractions and commercial areas by bus or subway. Long-distance buses are available for nearby cities and attractions around Busan.

  2. Accommodation Recommendations
Haeundae Area: Surrounded by towering buildings, this area offers a variety of shopping centers, restaurants, and cafes. During the day, you can enjoy sunbathing on the beach or surfing in the sea, while at night, you can admire the beautiful night views. Its proximity to the subway station makes it convenient for transportation, and being close to the seaside allows for easy access to the beach for photos and relaxation.

Nampo-dong Area: As Busan’s old downtown, this area is perfect for shopping. It features international shopping markets, and traditional markets like Jagalchi Market, as well as large shopping centers like Lotte Department Store and Shinsegae Department Store. When it comes to food, you can find a variety of South Korean snacks and seafood dishes.

Gwangalli Area: Known for its tranquil neighborhood atmosphere, this area offers many budget-friendly hotels and guesthouses.

Area Near Busan Station: This area is convenient for transportation and is home to many business hotels.

This is the second time we plan a trip with Best Asia Tours and we love their service and attention to detail as well as their willingness to make your trip memorable and anything you want possible. Their planning is impecable and very efficient and if anything is not as you expected they will work to make sure it is. we did a 21 day itinerary for 7 including 2 grandmas back on 2018 and we just went back a couple of weeks ago with our daughter for 12 days and had an awesome time. We are already planning the next one. Zoe and Eric who had help us with the travel planning were both amazing their speed to comeback with the itineraries and changes is impressive and not matter how many times you ask them to look at changes or different hotels etc they are always willing to help with the most wonderful attitude . All the guides we had on the different cities and regions have be incredible . I can not recommend them enough. I have traveled al over the world and they are definitively on the top service of the agencies I had used.

Best Asia Tours did a really good job planning our itinerary in Japan. Some times we had issues coming up I think mostly related to cultural differences, but our agent was amazing and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and the trip was perfect. The hotels are centrally located, very easy to access to the city center. The guide and driver are friendly and nice. We spend a pleasant and amazing journey there.

The trip was great and our agent performed great. We were pleasantly surprised with how responsive they were and with the trip that they planned. Very professional. A previous agent told us we couldn’t pull off a trip with so many stops but it was not a problem and the pace of the trip was good for us. We don’t like sitting still in one spot for too long. The guides in each city did well and a couple were excellent.
