The Pahiyas Festival is the largest and most colorful harvest celebration in the Philippines. It is held every year on May 15 in the town of Lucban, Quezon Province. Among all the decorations, the most versatile and widely used is the traditional ornament known as kiping. Made from rice and shaped into thin, leaf-like wafers, kiping is dyed in a wide range of bright, edible colors. These colorful pieces function like building blocks, allowing residents to create words, patterns, and even highly imaginative structures with ease.
During the festival, houses are judged in a decoration competition, with the most beautifully adorned home crowned the winner. After the celebrations, the decorations can be taken down and eaten, making the festival both festive and environmentally friendly.

A grand parade makes its way through the streets, with exquisitely decorated floats moving slowly forward. Bands perform live music, and people gather around the floats to sing and dance. By joining the procession, visitors can fully immerse themselves in the joyful atmosphere.
