Day 1 Arrival in Negombo
Welcome to Sri Lanka, an outdoor enthusiast’s dreamland! Immerse yourself in the raw, captivating allure of nature. Upon your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, our local guide will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. You will stay in Negombo tonight. The rest of the day, easy and free on your own.
Day 2 Negombo – Kitulgala
After breakfast, embark on your adventure with a 2.5-hour drive to Kitulgala, Sri Lanka’s ultimate playground for thrill-seekers.
In the afternoon, brace yourself for white-water rafting on the legendary Kelani River, where you’ll tackle grade 2-3 rapids surrounded by emerald-green rainforest. Feel the rush as you plunge into natural pools via heart-pounding cave jumps—formed by centuries of relentless water erosion.
Fun fact: Kitulgala gained international fame as the filming location for The Bridge on the River Kwai. Immerse yourself in the history while you ride the waves!
Day 3 Kitulgala – Nuwara Eliya
Kick off your morning with a thrilling caving expedition at Belilena Caves, one of Sri Lanka’s most fascinating prehistoric sites. These sprawling limestone caves hold 32,000-year-old clues to early human life in South Asia—think ancient tools, bone fragments, and artifacts that rewrite history. Explore hidden chambers, marvel at towering stalactites, and hear tales of groundbreaking archaeological finds.
In the afternoon, hit the road to Nuwara Eliya (about a 3-hour drive), Sri Lanka’s charming “Little England” perched high in the central highlands at 1,868 meters above sea level. Think misty mountains, colonial-era architecture, and cool, crisp air—it’s like stepping into a British countryside postcard.
Day 4 Nuwara Eliya – Ella
Begin your day with an early-morning tour of a working tea plantation, where you’ll get an insider’s look at the whole process—from fresh leaf-picking to the final packaging. Learn about the different grades of Ceylon tea, sip your way through tasting sessions, and soak in jaw-dropping views of endless emerald-green tea fields stretching as far as the eye can see.
Next, head to Nanu Oya railway station for the world-famous train ride to Ella, a 3–4 hour journey that’s often called one of the most stunning in the world. Wind through misty mountains, lush tea plantations, cascading waterfalls, and dramatic tunnels—every twist and turn offers a new postcard-worthy view.
Day 5 Ella – Tissamaharama
After breakfast, begin your day with a sunrise trip to the famous Nine Arch Bridge. This architectural wonder is made entirely out of stone, brick, and cement—no steel required. It’s the perfect place to snap some golden-hour photos and watch trains roll by overhead.
Next, slip on your hiking boots and head to Little Adam’s Peak (1,141 meters). This easy climb is great for beginners and offers breathtaking 360-degree views of Ella Gap and the lush valleys all around. Think of it as a smaller, more laid-back version of Adam’s Peak.
On your way to Tissamaharama, make a quick stop at the gorgeous Ravana Falls, which stand 25 meters tall. They’re named after the legendary king Ravana from the Ramayana epic. The flowing water and misty vibe create an amazing photo moment you won’t forget.
Day 6 Tissamaharama – Bentota
Kick off your day with an early-morning safari in Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s premier wildlife destination and one of the top spots worldwide to catch a glimpse of leopards (thanks to its super-high leopard density). As you drive through grasslands, lagoons, and scrublands, have your camera at the ready for elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, wild boars, crocodiles, and over 215 bird species—this place is a nature enthusiast’s paradise.
In the afternoon, hit the highway and head to Bentota (about a 3-hour drive). Once you get there, wrap up your day with an evening Madu River boat safari through untouched mangrove forests. You’ll float by tiny islands, treat yourself to some fun fish therapy (let the little critters nibble on your feet!), and keep your eyes peeled for water monitors, vibrant birds, and hanging fruit bats.
Day 7 Bentota – Colombo – Departure
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, you’ll set off for Colombo (approximately a 2-hour drive). If time permits, you can embark on a city tour. The highlights of the city tour include visiting the Gangaramaya Temple, taking in the sights at Independence Square, or indulging in some shopping at the vibrant local markets.
Finally, you’ll be dropped off at Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure, wrapping up your action-packed Sri Lankan adventure with unforgettable memories of excitement and natural beauty.
