Indonesia offers visa-free or temporary visa exemption policies to citizens of certain countries. Before departure, it is recommended that you check with the Indonesian embassy or consulate to confirm whether your country is covered by the current visa-free policy and whether the policy is still valid at the time of your travel.
If your country is not covered by Indonesia’s visa-free policy, you will need to apply for the appropriate visa in order to enter Indonesia.
Indonesia has opened electronic visa applications for individuals planning short-term stays (within 30 or 60 days) for purposes such as short-term tourism, business visits (excluding exhibitions), transit, or visiting relatives.
The electronic visa can be applied for online, eliminating the need to queue upon arrival. The application process is straightforward, and once approved, you will receive the visa in electronic form. The visa is valid for 90 days from the date of approval and allows a single entry into Indonesia.
In addition, Indonesia offers visa on arrival to citizens of most countries. If you do not apply for an electronic visa in advance, you may choose to obtain a visa on arrival at the airport.
When applying for a visa on arrival, you are generally required to present your passport, a return or onward flight itinerary, and hotel reservation confirmation. For business travel, additional documents such as proof of employment in your home country or an invitation letter from an Indonesian counterpart may be required.
